I am Elina Koponen (-86), an animal attendant living in middle of Finland, in city named Kuopio. My favourite hobby number one are arctic sleddogs, but I also have few other interests. You might guess them just looking this website ;) I love photographing. Now I have 3 cameras to use, Canon AE1 film systemcamera, Canon Powershot S1 iS digital camera and Canon EOS400D digital systemcamera. Mostly I use EOS but all videos are taken with Powershot. I mostly photograph dogs but also nature (gallery coming). I also create and update websites (check out "links") but unfortunately my time is limit, I only do websites to few friends and relatives. Passion number III would be mythologies and space. Number IV takes other pets and specially I love reptiles and birds, but everything's fine!
Now I have one terrapin,
"Tarmo", who is "Cumberland Slider" (Trachemys Scripta Troosti). She was
born in 1998 and came to me at age of 6 months.

My history with dogs All my life I have loved animals, specially dogs and wolves. Siberian Husky has been my favourite dogbreed for a long time and interest to these beautiful arctic dogs came from Lapland, "huskysafaris", where I met sledteam of working siberian huskies. I was maybe 6 or 7 years old but the dogs left me indelible passion for arctic sleddogs.
Our first dog came to us at year 1985, he was tricoloured rough collie "Marski" (Rockhill's Adam). After him we got two other rough collies, sable coloured male "Spencer" (Petronella Rexi) and blue merle male "Beaver". After some time we chanced breed from "Lassie" to "Aussie", our first Australian Shepherd "Boomer" came to us at year 2002. After him we have imported several aussies from USA and Norway. To read more about them, visit virtual home of Bywater Australian Shepherds at: http://www.aussiet.net
At year 2003 my dream came true; My first Siberian Husky joined the pack. "Utah" came to me from Southern Finland and altough she was sometimes very annoying as puppy (screaming, digging, escaping, breaking objects) I decided to have another one. And another one, and another one... The usual story with Siberians! My other breed interests are Greenlanddog, Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed, American Akita and Saarlos Wolfdog. So mostly I love primitive spitz! I am a member of Finnish Kennel Club, Finnish Siberian Husky Club and International Siberian Husky Club. I have passed the breeder's basic course and agility trainer's course.

Few facts about our breeding ▪ Our goal is to produce pure bred "dual purpose" Siberian Huskies. Our Siberian Huskies are running in harness and they are shown in dogshows. You can find ALL of their results from this site (I have nothing to hide) or the offical ones from Reg'd Dogdatabase of Finnish Kennel Club. ▪ Our breeding dogs are all checked for eyes, hips and elbows, sometimes even for knees and back. This does not mean that our dogs are more sick than other Siberian Huskies; we just want to be careful with our breedings. ▪ We spend lot of time when searching for results and information of planned litter's relatives. We try to minimize risks, specially with health. We don't sell our dogs to everyone, we carefully select people who really are interested in this breed and specially interested in our dogs. So understand why we ask zillions of questions and wish you to visit our home! ▪ We never breed dogs that are under 2 years old! We don't give our males to stud before they have enough age, health- ,sledding- and showresults. We don't give our males to females that doesn't have needed results! ▪ We DO NOT breed specific coat or eye color !!! Temperament, health and structure are more important when selecting puppy, so we don't take reservations that only criterion is blue eyes or/and black&white coat ... If you are honestly looking for a SIBERIAN HUSKY, color can not be the criterion to buy an arctic sleddog! ▪ We prefer the "honest way", if you have ANY questions about our dogs, their temperament, structure, results, other breeders we could recommand etc. Feel free to contact us! Check "Contact" -page to find our contact information.
Our kennels ▪ Our Siberian Huskies are living together, we don't seprate them unless it's really necessary (f.ex females have seasons). They are free to run and play at our fenced yard that's size is 1800 square metres. Our Siberians are also welcome inside the house, we don't wish to keep them just as "outdogs". Specially Utah likes to be inside the house as a spoiled house-dog... Yep, it's not usual that people keep sleddog team inside the house but as this far, I have stand the gallons of sand just because they are such wonderful dogs to live with!
Other fun stuff Our magazine cover heroes, in "Siperianhusky" -magazine 2/2007
Our huskies get training from unoffical dogshows what we call "match show" It's a show where any dog can enter; mixed, veterans, puppies... Judges are choosing winner dogs as they wish, but the main thing in the "show" is, that young dogs get practise to offical shows. Here are some pics from the match show's we have entered...
Match Show 2.8.2007, Nevada won BIS
Match Show 14.5.2007, Nevada won BIS
Match Show 14.10.2007, Nevada won BIS 2.
