29.06.2008  New pack member!

Some dislikes it, some loves it! We are proudly presenting our new packmember, who don't have furry coat or skills to pull a sled... But for sure he is gorgeous creature!

Our new packmember comes from my own city, Kuopio, he is 2,5 years old and 50cmrs long - let me introduce you Ji Indur Gojira Luciferus Petrucci - "Jindur" or as my friend likes to say, "Rauli the lizard" ! He is green iguana (iguana iguana).

Tarmo the turtle is not sure if she understands the new member of the pack, but I think she isn't the greatest thinker anyway.

All thanks to Reeta for this beautiful lizard!

17.-18.05.2008 Two shows, one weekend

Valar's first shows were organized in Joensuu, where there was all breed show at saturday and international all breed show at sunday. At saturday judge was Soile Bister (Finland) whom thinked Valar is "too heavy" and she only got result "good".

Sunday was very rainy, windy and cold at same time (really a "dog weather") but it was worth of it: Kari Järvinen (Finland) judged Valar to be EXC 1st, 2nd best female with RES-CAC and CACIB. Thousand times THANK YOU to my friend Elina Saavalainen who took some great pictures of Valar and who helped me during the shows!

29.03.2008 Some good news, some bad news

This day we eye checked 3 of our dogs; Haldir, Valar and Nevada.

Haldir and Valar has healthy eyes!

With Nevada we didn't have so much luck. Nevada has still some marks of blood vessels that are left from her fetus age. They should be gone when puppy is 2-4 weeks old. She had some spots and remains, so her diagnosis is PHTVL/PHPV, degree 1. I am happy that she doesn't have higher level because this might cause blindness or it can develop in to a cataract.

I know dogs that have higher level and they are used to breeding. I know also that many people think this is not "serious" because it is only degree 1.

But, she is not complitely healthy so we will eye check here later again and see what's her condition then. The planned litter between Nevada and River has been cancelled.

23.02.2008 Dogshow in Tuusniemi

We entered to group-show in Tuusniemi, with two of our shining stars...

Judge Marja Talvitie from Finland liked our dogs this way:

Haldir (junior class): EXC1, Best male, CAC & BOS

Nevada (working class): EXC1, Best female, CAC, BOB, BIG 4th

For sure this was best show Nevada has ever done... And this was Haldir's first show debut, and it went well !!! This was Nevada's last CAC. She now only needs racing test result to become Finnish Champion. Are we going to try it? For sure!

03.02.2008 "The Pancake Tuesday Session"

We were asked to bring sleddogs for "Pancake Sunday" -event, where families and especially children are spending the day with different kinds of activities. Of course we agreed and packed our sled, huskies, harness and other needed and drived to Varpaisjarvi where the event was organized.

The day went really well, Siberians were (as always) really friendly to everyone and the short trips where kids (and some older people too) were sitting on the sled were really enjoyable, specially to children.

More pics from the day coming up soon!

 26.01. 2008 Puppies On The Road !!!

Finally our "puppies" Valar and Haldir have been harnessed!

Our team: Utah & Nevada leading, Valar in swing, Haldir & Indiana in wheels. Valar was like I expected: A little pocket-rocket! I didn't have any expectations about Haldir, because he is more soft and calm dog than others, but he worked as well as Indiana, meaning; SUPER. I am very happy to have very well working wheeldogs, boys are the key to keep sled going on. Utah did, again, excellent command leading but she still is bit lazy when we talk about pulling. Nevada working well as always, she is very nice lead dog with Utah. I still keep Utah in my team when training "pups" because her obedience is fantastic ;)

We have now had few shorther trips and in last one we got nice practise from cars and snowmobile. Dogs just did great job, they didn't have any problems when vechiles where passing them.
